Swans live around the moat and suddenly 2 decided to fly past to the next corner of the moat...
Inside the palace gate was a lovely garden area...
Another magnificent building...
We spent quite a while exploring this beautiful building which has the most magnificent sculptures and other wonderful examples of master craftsmen's work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_CathedralThere was a service in progress while we were there which meant we heard the organ being played...very impressive!
In the garden area of the Cathedral there are remains of older buildings such as Roman and Saxon constructions on the site...wonder if the Time Team have been here?
Then our friends took us a little way on from the Cathedral and we crossed the road. All they said was that we were going to Vicar's Close...
and what a jaw-dropping experience was our first view of this intriguing street...it's a street of houses going back to the medieval era...

I was a bit behind of following your trip, so I have been spending some time now and enjoyed it so much! There are so many intersting castles and old buildings in Britain, and all the charming villages! I love following your trip!
...and you had sunshine. I am so pleased. Jx
I so wanted to visit here on our trip but because of the bad weather it was not advisable. So glad you took me there today. Must add to my list of places to visit next time.

That last street is amazing!
Looks like it warmed up a bit for you. That's an amazing place to visit, and I love the last street...I'd like to know more...who used to live there and does anyone live there now?
I love Wells. We usually visit midweek when they have a farmers market and crafts or antiques. Vicars close is beautiful isn't it. I also found a lovely patchwork shop the last time I was there at Christmas. xx
Hi Maria, I'm happily back online again and now enjoying catching up with your posts.
This is certainly an eye-catching one, what incredible architecture, and those medieval houses. You're seeing so much history aren't you. Those original cobblestones even.
Wonderful! Cheers :D)
