Make-Grow-Thrift

This week I'm posting about something that I've made recently. I've shown close up photos but because the item was a surprise I didn't give much away about what it was and who was going to be the recipient.
A former student of mine, was diagnosed a few months ago with ovarian cancer. I've been able to stay in touch with her and know what a horrible time she is going through. She is facing the fight with such positiveness and with her great sense of humour. But since her operation the week before last, her days have been dark and pain filled.

My gift got to her on one of those dark days and I thought the timing was perfect; it cheered her up. I consulted her sister to get an idea of what colours. O and her husband had renovated a bus into a mobile home in order to travel the country. This all happened before she got ill. Her sister L suggested that O's favourite colours were the ones used in decorating the interior of the bus...so that's what I used to make her a mohair throw.

I needed something that could be knitted quickly, hence it's a slip stitch pattern.

What a thoughtful gift Maria. I'm sure she's going to love it and think of you each time she sees it. My thoughts go with your friend and I pray she makes a full recovery. Sue

Oh Maria, that is such a gorgeous gift for O. It's positively beautiful - and, being mohair, would be so soft and comforting.
I felt so much for her when you wrote about their plans for travel prior to her getting ill. I do hope she and her husband are able to fulfil their dreams before too long.
