On our Ghan trip we spent just 4 hours in Alice Springs and so far I've written 3 posts. So we crammed a fair bit in. Our last 20 minutes of the stopover, was spent on ANZAC Hill, the top of which is not only a memorial to defence personnel who served in a number of theatres of war, but is also a wonderful vantage point to look down on the town.
The road leading to the top of the hill has signs listing the various wars/conflicts that Australia was involved in...we didn't get photos of all the signs but here are a few.
The memorial at the top of the hill...
Some of the views from the hill top...
In 4 hours, we only 'scratched the surface' of what Alice Springs has to offer. It is certainly a town with lots of interesting history, as well as a town surrounded by some stunningly beautiful countryside.

Wow, you really did pack a lot into your four hours in Alice. The signs on the road up to the memorial are very effective in reminding of all the conflicts over the years that your country has taken part in, and the view from the top is amazing.
Four hours!
Omg. Back on the train and put your feet up. Have a nice class of wine and relax lol
You managed to see a great deal in only 4 hours. Love the police on Segways.
God bless.
Well done then Maria... only 4 hours and look at all you took in.
Those photos over the town are great and the hills beyond.
I too thought the Police transport was beaut :D)
