Wales...

After leaving Bristol, DH and I travelled to Wales...we crossed the Bristol Channel using this beautiful bridge...

It is a toll bridge and luckily one can pay with cash unlike the toll roads and tunnels at home. It cost £6.50 which is about $AUD13.

Our first stop in Wales was the city of Cardiff...and our first bit of exploring was at the museum of natural history and art.

And look at all those children waiting to enter the building...after all those years of taking classes on excursions I am now 'on the other side ' as it were....

We had quickly discovered that signs in Wales  feature both Welsh and English...

The dinosaur section was fun...

The mammoth and her baby were animated...

A mammoth skeleton

I was rather taken with this rather furry ancient rhino...at first I thought it was a feral pig! Lol

After wandering through the geological displays and the dinosaur section we headed upstairs...
Looking down to the ground floor...

Firstly we looked at the china collections on display...

Then we walked through the various galleries...the art collection was vast and varied. In most of the galleries, photography wasn't permitted. Artists' work we were able to view included Rodin, Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh and banners outside were advertising that Constable's 'Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows was on display...and the attendant said DH could take a photo...

It was a lovely morning and all the school students must have been on a strict time schedule as they were in and out within an hour!
Sorry about the blurring in the next photo...we worked out that this must be the coffee shop in the museum! Lol

Hello Maria, you had a great start to your tour of Wales. We won't grizzle about the price of tolls over here ;D)
Beaut how you were able to take so many photos of the exhibits in the Museum - what a magnificent building it is, both inside and out.
The china collections look so delicate and, oh boy, how wonderful to see all those artists' work. Enjoyed seeing Constable's beautiful painting too.
Enjoy your week :D)

Did you spot that you only pay to enter Wales - they let you out for free! xx

I'll bet you were glad the school children were in and out so quickly and that you were "on the other side".
Enjoying all the stores - I almost feel like I'm there. That museum is a lovely building...
