FNSI...

Last night was the last Friday Night Sew In for 2014. When I signed up over at Sugar Lane Quilts, I left a comment to the effect that  I was looking forward to some 'slow stitching' after the busy, busy time of sewing gifts. 

Well it turned out to be very slow...after just over an hour, I realised that I needed an early night. Hot, humid days tend to have that effect on me, lol. 

So this is what I did get done last night...

I finished putting together this heart shaped Dresden, but as the photo shows, I still have to choose a fabric for the heart in the centre. (The pattern is on Craftsy and is from Carolyn Hughey of Quilting Up the Creek)
And...

This will be a mug rug for Lucy and Max. It features a pocket where letters to Santa can be left, as well as room on the rug for a few biscuits and a cup/glass of Santa's prefered drink. I cut those 1 1/2 inch squares one at a time out of small scraps...tiring in itself! lol. I still have a lot to do before I hand it over before Christmas Eve.
The next photo is a phone photo of the screen and it's a bit fuzzy but it gives an idea of what the finished mug rug will look like.

The Summer Themed Mini Quilt Swap cont...

The person chosen to receive a mini from me was Noela and as I know it has arrived at her place, I am now going to reveal what I made. 

I used a Craftsy Pattern that I had noticed earlier this year, and put it in my wish list. When I started wondering how I would interpret the topic, I came up with quite a few ideas but nothing in particular. Then one day, just out of the blue, I remembered the stitchery pattern on Craftsy...it was a little vintage caravan. Now even though my parents always rented a house for beach holidays or we went to my godparents' farm in the country, I still associate caravans with summer and summer holidays. 

So I purchased Jodie Rackley's pattern and traced the design on to some off white homespun during FNwF last month. I purchased some lovely 'cloud' fabric for the border but as I worked the embroidery I realised that the cloud fabric 'would not work'...but some caravan fabric that I already had would work quite well instead...so...the finished mini, using the 'Retro Camper' design.

I used cloud fabric on the binding and a lighter cloud fabric as the backing.

FNwF...

It's the first Friday of the month, so that means Friday Night with Friends! So as Friday night rolls around to all the Time Zones, bloggers from all around the globe join in to work on their individual projects. Tonight I did some more work on the knitting project that I wrote about in FNSI last month...remember it's a secret project so you don't really want to see another blurry photo of the back of the project...but I will say that the project is nearing completion with just 2 more horizontal blocks of colour to go...

The other project that I worked on tonight was that I finally made a start on another dog quilt for DD2...well not for her exactly...for her partner's dog, Missy. Apparently Missy was a bit jealous of the quilt I made for Jimmy, DD2's dog, and tries to take Jimmy's quilt. So I offered to make Missy one of her own...as you do! Lol. 

The block I made tonight is a free pattern on Craftsy, called the Bow Wow Kennel Quilt, except I made it smaller, as I want to add other blocks...the Craftsy pattern block makes up as a 24" square quilt. 

As you can see in the photo, I also have some 'puppy' fabric to 'play around with' too. The ideas for how I'm going to continue with this project, are swirling around in my brain at present. But I'm sure Missy will be happy with how it all turns out! :-)
