Do I have the stomach for this?

(You will have to excuse the 'misuse'/manipulation of this common idiom)
The answer to the question is 'Yes'! Many people of 'my age' complain that various body parts are at the mercy of gravity and therefore tend to sag a bit as we get older. Well apparently my stomach has defied this trend and an Endoscopy has shown that it is actually moving upwards. It's been doing this for a while but lately its dash northwards has intensified and 2/3 of it is pushed up into the oesophagus.
Lovely Dr N drew on some diagrams for me during our consultation in early October...the 'balloon' is my stomach!!!

Sounds revolting I know. Except for a bit of reflux which is beautifully controlled by a small tablet, I've not had any problems. But...there's always a but isn't there?...following all medical advice, I have to get the hiatus hernia fixed as this pushy stomach of mine is starting to move towards other 'bits' and will cause problems. This op was put on hold while DH's medical issues were dealt with and now, with him doing a lot better, it's my turn!

So tomorrow morning I head off to Holy Spirit Northside for an op and a 3 night stay.

Behind the trees is the HSN at Chermside
New nighties have been washed ...
I will be on liquids/purees for 2 weeks and then 'soft foods' for quite a while apparently; so that will be interesting as there will be several Christmas get togethers as well as a High Tea that I've been invited to...as I said, it could be interesting :-) Stay tuned!

Oh Maria that is no fun at all. Do everything you are told by the doctors and recover quickly. I do have some things for you but will catch up when you are feeling more human and at home. Take care.

All the best - bad timing as you say for all the Christmas events coming up - but maybe with this behind you, 2016 can be a easy cruise medically speakign for both of you!

Oh, dear, I'm so sorry you will have to liquefy your Christmas treats! Or have surgery at all. I hope it goes well, no pain, and you heal quickly. Pretty new nighties, by the way!

Sorry to hear this Maria. I'll be thinking about you and wishing you a swift recovery.

(On a different subject, do you remember the time when you could buy a nice new garment and put it straight on? Goodness knows what they put in the fabric that is so toxic you can't put it next to your skin without washing it. I must be showing my age.)

Get well soon.

Looks like someone needs to give you a portable blender as an early Christmas present, that you can take along to all those Christmas dos!

Hope the surgery goes smoothly, and everything heals up quickly. And that you can enjoy some blended Christmas goodies!

sending lots of prayers and love for your recovery from the surgery, such a shame you will not be able to join in with all the lovely foods at Christmas, but maybe you can put your dinner through a liquidiser so you can still get the taste. Take care and do as you are told if that is possible
