Take me out to the ball game...

And that's exactly what DH and I did on Friday Night. We caught a train to Anaheim to see the game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers. The train was a 'Special' service for the  game; it was an hour's train ride...
This train had 3 levels of seating; we sat up the top for the best view.

We passed through huge railway yards...

We passed through lots of industrial land. For many miles the line ran beside a 'giant culvert' waterway which was crossed by a number of ornate old bridges...

Comfortable seats and interesting scenery make for a pretty good train journey.

Industrial area view from the train...
A view of LA, CBD from the train...
One of the stations...

This station had a tavern...
The station is beside the car park of the stadium!

This is the ramp from the station platform that we walked down to walk the few hundred metres to the entry point...

We had to queue a few times; first to get a ticket, then, to have bags searched. But then we were in! We had seats on the 4 th level, looking down on home base.
The innings were just flying through...as someone who is used to 'school kids' softball, I was amazed at how quickly 3 players would get out!!

I'm afraid that the Angels weren't doing too well...as you can see by my face in the photos below...or was it a sour face because I reckoned an Angel player wasn't out!! Or...I'm sure that was a 'Ball' not a strike! Lol

Page huge part of the crowd was family groups and it was a great atmosphere! There is a lot of chance for spectator interaction too...including singing...and kissing if you and your partner appear on the big screens. ( no not us) And lots of 'rallying' for the home team...make noise and the monkey will come! And urge you to cheer your team on.

DH was thrilled when the compere of one of his favourite shows, Jeopardy, turned up on the big screen to ask a question...Alex Trebec!

The Texans won and it was time to go.
So down the big ramp to ground level, across the carpark to the station. We had a half hour or so wait for the train back to Union Station. There we had another train to catch back to 7/8 th Street, so we finally arrived back at the hotel just before midnight...a long, but fun day!
One more thing...as we entered we each received an Angels T shirt...gratis!

OMG Maria .. I blink my eyes and you two are way over there in LA !!! AND you've already packed so much into the few days you've been there. I think the decision to travel in the premier economy was a very wise one - obviously much more comfortable and civilised :) Good news about DH's health - what a relief eh? Will look forward to hearing all about your antics during the next 5 weeks. Enjoy !! xox
