The Little Black Dress...

'They' say that every woman should have a LBD in her wardrobe and I'm no exception. I bought this dress in   2001  quite a while ago for a special dinner that was held in my honour when I was transferred suddenly from a lovely school . I wore it quite regularly after that as LBDs are very versatile :-). Then one day I put it on and I couldn't do up the zipper...yep there was at least a  2 inch gap at the midriff section over which the zip could not go any further :-(  This was 4 years after the dress had been purchased.

A very simple style; the photo doesn't show the midriff which was flattering

I toyed with trying to 'let out' the seams in some way or making a new midriff section but the thought of unpicking all those seams and dealing with the fact that the frock was fully lined...I just left the dress in the wardrobe. For a few years I'd try it on occasionally, hoping for a miracle and it would suddenly fit again...but it was wishful thinking! lol I also toyed with placing the dress in a charity bin but I just couldn't bring myself to part with it.

The dress still fitted beautifully for my 50th celebrations!

I decided to try it on again a few weeks ago...I could do the zipper up completely...no stopping! What a lovely surprise!!! Now I must be honest and say that the dress was a bit tight over my hips and I wouldn't wear it out in public just yet. I reckon that sometime next year I will be quite happy to start wearing this favourite dress again because I don't know about other people but I find that when I lose weight, I start at the top! By that I mean that I notice that I first 'trim down' around the face, then the neck...then the bust line etc etc. So my hips have a way to go if my theory is correct. I have lost weight already in that area so that's promising.

So I had another weigh-in last week, checking how my weight loss is going. According to the scales I've lost another 2 kgs, so that's 11kg since the beginning of May...hopefully slow enough to be sustainable :-)
So I look forward to, in the not too distant future, being able to wear this dress again! :-) (And I don't miss the sweet stuff at all!)

Wow well done Maria. I have slowly cut back my intake of sweet stuff and I am also slowly losing a few kilos.

Well done Maria! I think where you lose weight from first must have something to do with your body type. I am like you and lose from the top down but I know friends who lose from the legs up. Interesting!

That's so well done Maria - lovely bonuses aside from health benefits, such as getting back into your LBD :D)

That's how I lose weight too Maria..my husband is the opposite, his legs and arms get thinner..then his belly! I have been off sugar now for 4 and a half weeks and haven't missed it..the weight is slowly going.
