Back home again now...

Today started early for us...the alarm was set for 5.30 am (3.30 Brisbane time) and by just after 6am we were heading for Christchurch Airport. We had driven back to Christchurch yesterday after spending 2 nights in Dunedin. I'll finish my travelogue on those last days of our holiday in future posts.

When we arrived home, our lovely neighbour Judy, who was collecting our mail for us and feeding Eduardo the cat, came over to our house with her arms full of mail...we might have been on holidays but the postie certainly hadn't been. These are some of the lovely surprises that I opened up today...
Firstly, this was a birthday gift that my local quilt shop sent me. Normally Possum Club (the shop is The Patchwork Tree) members get a small stitchery kit for their birthday so this was totally unexpected...but very much appreciated!

The next parcel I opened was from Carol from the lovely blog Naturally Carol. Carol made all these lovely soft beanies in the prettiest of yarns and has donated them to Knitting for Brisbane's Needy.
This photo shows just how pretty the yarn used is...

And Carol also donated some lovely yarns to the group! Many thanks Carol for your kindness...it is much appreciated.

Then I opened these lovely cards... one from Noela and the other from Sue. Thank you both very much!

Not long before we went away, I had purchased online, Natalie Bird's book, 'Tis the season', as I had loved some of the projects that I had seen people complete from this book...

Now the next item I opened was a parcel from Lynne, my swap buddy in the Mrs Martin, Let's Celebrate Swap. This item coincided with Mothers Day and involved sending a fat quarter and trimmings such as lace, ric rac, buttons etc to your buddy. Here's the beautifully wrapped parcel that Lynne sent me...

And such a sweet card...
Lynne sent me 2 beautiful fat quarters, some lovely cotton lace, a very pretty pink length of ric rac and some gorgeous buttons...

Look at these amazing buttons!

Thank you so much Lynne, I love the items that you sent me! And after looking through my photo files I realised that I only took a 'teasing' snippet photos of what I sent Lynne and completely forgot to lay everything out and take another photo before I wrapped everything up and posted the parcel. :-/

Another item that I opened up this morning was not delivered by Australia Post, but instead was delivered by  a leather-clad man on a motorbike. On Monday I had received a message via Facebook from a fellow K4BN member who lives in Launceston, that her husband had finally delivered a bag of knitted squares and other bits and pieces that she had given him over a month ago, to deliver to me. (He works away from home, in Brisbane) Marlene had said when told that he had delivered the bag of goodies,
'Oh no! She's in NZ' and he replied that my neighbour had come across and asked him what his business was...so how's that for having our own security guard! lol My neighbour then took the rather large bag back to her place until we arrived home. And here it is!

So some more squares for me to sew up!

What an exciting home-coming, even if you were so very tired (I'm sure you must have been!) and a big yahoo for Naturally Carol, love the beanies and how kind.

Welcome home! What a lovely bunch of mail, although I'm sure there must have been the odd bill amongst them, too!

It's lovely to get mail that doesn't contain a bill. Lots of great goodies. Glad you had a lovely holiday. Hugs.....
