Our Ireland Tour; Ballycastle, Giants Causeway and Londonderry

One morning our tour drove to Ballycastle where we were able to see part of Scotland, Mull of Kintyre, from a lookout.
Some of the buildings in the village we drove through to get to the lookout.

That’s an Irish island  in the midground of the next photo; Scotland is the line of hills behind it.

The Lookout area was so green!

In the photo above you can see 2 islands. My photo shows a white spot on the island closest to the cliffs.
With DH’s fancy lens, here’s a closer view of that house and the rope bridge which is the access apparently to the house...scary! Lol

Next we headed to the Giants Causeway...fascinating place.

It’s a bit of a walk down to the Causeway and while many fellow tourists did walk up and down, we chose to use the shuttle bus.

On that same day we had an hour or so in Londonderry at lunch time. It’s another interesting place being an old walled city. Here I am standing on the wall which has all the cannons lined up. The wall was built to defend Scottish and English settlers to the area in the 17th Century. The settlers were Protestant and their attackers were Catholic. ( Derry is in Northern Island)

The wall was quite high but there was a ramp to help get up to it.

Here are just a few of the buildings we saw in Londonderry as we walked around.

I love the photos, Maria. I really would love to see where my Mum's rellies live in Scotland. She came to Australia as a child but her Dad was one of eight children most of whom remained in Scotland so I have lots of rellies there. That white house looks like it is in a precarious position :-)

We didn't visit Northern Ireland when we were there. I find your photos of Londonderry fascinating.

God bless.
