What a wonderful result!

In March, I wrote a post about sending one of my knitted throws to an amazing organisation in NSW called CanAssist. I explained that Can Assist helps people in rural areas to access treatments for cancer, in city hospitals. I found out about this organisation from reading the Maas Journal blog. By reading Sue's blog I came to realise the extra difficulties faced by people in rural communities who had to travel quite a distance to receive treatment in city hospitals. So as well as the stress of a diagnosis of cancer, these people had to deal with all the extra stress and worry of having to travel, and pay for accommodation in the city in many cases as well.

I 'borrowed' this photo from Maa's Journal blog :-)

Yesterday Maa gave an update on the raffle of the throw on her blog and today I received a phone call from Marg in Cootamundra telling me that the raffle had raised $550 !!! How generous were the residents of Cootamundra...I have often donated throws and blankets over the years to schools, church groups and other community groups, but this is only the second time that over $500 was raised! I was thrilled when Marg said that that money will buy a lot of fuel cards. This will help people pay for the extra petrol that they need to drive the long distances to city hospitals.

So  you may have noticed that I'm pretty 'chuffed' about all this...and I am!!! It's great when something that you love doing (knitting) can be used to help others.

That's great! Well done to all concerned.

It's a beautiful throw, so it's not surprising that they sold a lot of tickets.

Thank you again Maria. The throw was won by a man who has been having traetment for prostrate cancer. You had mentioned that you were adding black in case a man won it .... so there you go. Psychic or what? Hugs Sue

Great job with the raffle throw. It certainly helped raise a lot of money. I had a little look through some of your posts. I just love your hydrangea nook. Everything looks beautiful.
Little Jimmy looks so cute on the lounge.
