Friday Night Sew In

Tonight I have to write my blog post quite early in the evening as I have to pack a bag and then go to bed early for a change. DH and I have to be up early tomorrow morning to catch our train. We are going on an Australian Historical Railways-Queensland Division 2 day excursion...but I will tell you all about it in another post!
For FNSI I have been working on a project for 'Let's Get Stitched in Melbourne'...a mug rug that all attendees have to make as it will be signed on the back by everyone and therefore be a wonderful souvenir of this event. Here is Vicki's outline for us to stitch...

I have decreased the size of the stitchery design as I want to try out a few ideas...and also lessen the amount of back stitching I have to do...especially that lettering! Lol! Unfortunately the progress with the stitching was slow...

I have printed some images of Melbourne on fabric. This was a first for me, but the instructions with the packet of Computer Printer Fabric Sheets that I bought in the USA had very clear instructions.

I plan to piece these rectangular shapes along with some shapes cut out of sewing notions' fabrics. I have ideas in my head but no firm plans how I am going to end up with a 10 inch square mug rug.
I have written this post on my iPad using the blogger App and all photos taken with the iPad camera...my goodness what a steep learning curve! I will have to get a lot better at this as I will only be taking the iPad on trips in future. My trusty laptop will be left at home...it's a bit heavy and such a nuisance at airports etc, so iPad has won top billing! Lol

Your stitching is looking good. Very clever of you using your IPad to do your post as it is so much easier only having to take one thing with you on trips.

That stitchery is going to make the perfect mug rug.

Hi Maria,
Have a great time in Melbourne. It sounds like such a fun time. I love your mission statement at the top of your blog. Words we can all live by - appreciating what we have. :)
