Pookies...

What on earth ...? You may ask :-).

Well Pookies are little knitted toys and in the K4BN 2013-14 Summer Challenge these cute items are what a number of members of the group are knitting. The group is hoping to get quite a stockpile of these toys to give to children of homeless families or any children in need. They have been described as 'pocket pals' that children can play with and even use as a confidant to tell all their problems/worries to.

Wednesday of last week was the Albany Creek Knit and Natter and 2 members brought along Pookies that they had been working on...
These were made by Barbara...

And then Debbie produced this bag of Pookies and set it on the table...

We tipped the bag up a bit...

And out tumbled all these cute Pookies...including a few made in Indigenous colours...(there is a glimpse of one of those still in the bag)
I had to get a group photo didn't I?

I also took a photo of another member's (Sharon) beautiful crocheted throw which she completed since our last K&N. (Helen kindly held the throw up while I took a few photos)

I'm including the link to a page where the Pookie pattern is published just in case any readers would like to make some for themselves...the pattern is also available for free on the Ravelry site.
By the number of photos already published on the K4BN forum, it looks like there are dozens of Pookies which will be able to given out to children in need. I still have 9 more days until the end of January to make a few :-)

How cute the pookies are! I think it is a good idea with these small toys that can go with the child everywhere and stay in their pocket.
