The answer to the question is 'Yes'! Many people of 'my age' complain that various body parts are at the mercy of gravity and therefore tend to sag a bit as we get older. Well apparently my stomach has defied this trend and an Endoscopy has shown that it is actually moving upwards. It's been doing this for a while but lately its dash northwards has intensified and 2/3 of it is pushed up into the oesophagus.
Lovely Dr N drew on some diagrams for me during our consultation in early October...the 'balloon' is my stomach!!!

Sounds revolting I know. Except for a bit of reflux which is beautifully controlled by a small tablet, I've not had any problems. But...there's always a but isn't there?...following all medical advice, I have to get the hiatus hernia fixed as this pushy stomach of mine is starting to move towards other 'bits' and will cause problems. This op was put on hold while DH's medical issues were dealt with and now, with him doing a lot better, it's my turn!
So tomorrow morning I head off to Holy Spirit Northside for an op and a 3 night stay.
New nighties have been washed ...
I will be on liquids/purees for 2 weeks and then 'soft foods' for quite a while apparently; so that will be interesting as there will be several Christmas get togethers as well as a High Tea that I've been invited to...as I said, it could be interesting :-) Stay tuned!
