The Wedding...

It's nearly 2 weeks since DD1 got married, so regular readers might wonder whether there will ever be a post with some photos. Well the wait is over...
The wedding was in the lovely garden of my BiL and SiL...family helped set up on the Friday afternoon and the Saturday morning.

The time passed quickly with makeup and hair being done.

We had the bride all ready for the 2.30 ceremony...

A photo with little sister...

DD2 and I walked the bride to her waiting groom...

The celebrant was DH's cousin and DD1's godmother...

After the ceremony DsD2 was in charge of organising everyone for the photos that her sister wanted.

The group photo was done first...

As soon as I wasn't needed for any more photos, I headed inside to oversee the food. My friend who runs a cafe catered the event and the finger food was Italian themed as requested by the bride.

My sister in law is Italian as well and is famous in our family for her cannoli. And she made lots for us! And almond bread.

This was only part of the huge batch; there were enough inside for most guests to take a few each home...and they did!
My friend made the cake...very simply decorated at the request of the bride and it was checkerboard mudcake.

And somehow I got the job of cutting up the cake...

DH's favourite photo of the day was this...two little cousins!
Today DH and I picked up the newly weds from the airport after their honeymoon in Victoria. They have had a wonderful time and were able to visit DD1's dad who hasn't been well but is hopefully on the mend.

The Wedding

On July 15 family and friends gathered at the RACV Noosa Resort for the wedding of DsD1 and Dan. Most of us stayed at the resort and as luck would have it, the unit that DH and I shared with DD2, her partner and baby Holly, was just beside the grassed area where the ceremony would take place.

It was very comfortable accommodation with plenty of room...

I won't waffle on, I'll get straight on with sharing photos...😉
The wedding was at 2.30 but DH had to head over to the bride's unit at 12 for photos...dad, mum and 2 sisters.

The beautiful bride with her attendants...

Her proud parents walking her to the ceremony...

My girls and I...

Holly also had a special outfit...

Anthea was wearing a headband which I admired, but I think she rather coveted my fascinator, a bit of fun that I had bought at the urging of some friends...

At the reception, even Holly had a place card...how thoughtful was Aunty Meg! Don't know whether Holly will remember much about the wedding though!

DsD2 made the cake...she did a great job.

The next photo was taken while the function room was being set up. The centerpiece of each table featured a pile of books ( representing the bride's love of reading) and the replica kerosene lantern represented the groom's rural background.

During the 2 and 1/2 days we were at the resort, there was no shortage of people who wanted to nurse the baby!

And Anthea had a great time too!

On the Saturday morning, ( and again on Sunday morning) we were visited by 2 ducks, obviously a couple...I may have given them some bread 😉

A lot of planning by DsD1 went into this wedding and she can be justly proud of how well everything went; result? a wonderful weekend with lots of memories for all.

Last May our family celebrated an engagement...DsD2 and Karl...

We had a 'Tea Party' themed engagement party...
The happy couple with Karl's mum...
The couple with DsD2's mum...
With her sisters...
DH has his hands full here! With DD2, DsD3 and DsD2
We weren't really surprised that this couple should get engaged  What did sort of surprise us was that Karl came and asked DH for his daughter's hand in marriage. Over the preceding couple of years, Karl had become quite a 'fixture' round here... good naturedly wearing the paper hat that came out of the Christmas bon bon :-)...

Cheerfully accompanying DsD2 to family gatherings...

Well today DH and I took this young couple to the airport. They were flying out to Christchurch in NZ to get ready for their wedding on May 4 in Wanaka. Some very important luggage was accompanying them...
The bride's gown in its protective white bag...

Then were the bridesmaid gowns in another suitcase...
Karl starts to load up the trolley...

Hmmm...the stack's getting higher there!

Finally all 3 suitcases are stacked up plus a large barrel bag (very heavy I'm told) and some overnight bags.

So these 2, plus one bridesmaid and her family flew out today, DsD1 and her partner fly out tomorrow. DH, myself, BIL and SIL fly out together on Sunday, mother of the bride flies out next Wednesday and DsD3 flies out on Thursday I think. We're like the royal family...not travelling all together!! lol
My 2 daughters, after much soul searching, decided not to go. Many other relatives and friends are not attending also...it can be an expensive undertaking especially if time restraints mean that people could only go for that weekend.
So next week I will be blogging from new Zealand! Stay tuned lol
