Wool on Sundays...

Once more, joining in with Janine from the Rainbow Hare blog, for her Wool on Sundays. In the last week, I've done a minuscule amount of work on those crocheted squares that I wrote about last week. I think the tally would be 2 squares enlarged by a few rounds :-/
So I thought I would write a post about my 'knitting/crocheting themed fabric collection' instead.
The fabrics have been bought at various times over a number of years...

This 'knitting sheep' became a favourite and has lots of fussy-cut hexagons cut out of it...

And what did I find last year in a yarn shop in Skagway?? Yes, even when I'm on the other side of the world from home, I check out yarn and fabric shops! Lol.
So plenty more of my 'knitting sheep' fabric to play with!
I'll finish the post with some photos of how I've used these fabrics...
One year I was matched with a knitter in a Secret Santa Swap, so one of the gifts I made was a fabric basket...
And then filled it with some yarns...

And I've lost count of the times I've made the Judy Newman Dillybag using the themed fabrics for fellow knitters.

There are useful pockets in the lining too. This fabric was in Spotlight and I only bought a metre. I've just got a tiny bit left now after lining two Dillybags.

This bag was made in 2014 for my Secret Santa partner in my knitting group...

This is the one I made last year for the Chookyblue SS Swap...

And one big hexagon stitched to the front...my partner loves mice! ( The embroidery design is 'Lily Mouse' and is a design by Susan of Threads on My Socks; available from her Etsy shop)
Next week I may have a new knitting project started; it will be good to be working on something in the evenings again!

Friday Night Sew In...

Last night I joined in the November FNSI, hosted by Wendy over at Sugarlane Quilts.
I worked on secret sewing again...
I finally finished 'Stage 1' of this project; a strip of fabric made of hexagons...

This will form part of a drawstring bag...for a fellow knitter perhaps??
The pattern is by Judy Newman and I enthusiastically follow her instructions for joining all those hexies...no papers, no tiny over stitches...just running stitch. It's quicker than the normal EPP.
A little peep at the back...
Also last night I worked on my stitching project which will be incorporated into this drawstring bag...and now I only have one tiny section to stitch and I'm finished that 'Stage 1'...yay!!!
I'm on target to have these items completed and in the mail early this coming week; all ready to head off to my swap buddy.
Here is the link to Wendy's post where FNSI ers signed up to join in...you will be able to see what other bloggers achieved by using the links in the sign up widget. I can guarantee you will see some amazing projects.

An Etsy Purchase and other crafty 'stuff'...

I've mentioned previously that I have been working on some 'secret projects' recently. These kind of projects usually involve a fair bit of 'stalking' of blogs to discover likes/favourites etc of those certain persons who are my swap partners.

One of the secret projects I have 'on the go' at the moment...

Well I discovered that one of these unnamed bloggers rather liked mice, so I went looking on the 'net' for crafting ideas which incorporated mice.
There was a designer on Etsy who had some lovely stitching patterns using mice but I really wanted a knitting theme. So...I wrote to this designer asking if she had ever considered developing some embroidery designs of 'knitting mice'. Susie Layman from Threads on my Socks answered my query saying she had in fact, some ideas for her mice characters, Miss Mousey and Lily, using a knitting theme. Susie said she would work on these ideas and get back to me. I didn't expect to hear back from her for several weeks, but it was only a couple of days! Needless to say, I loved the 'knitting mice' and promptly bought the pattern.
The pattern was instant download and includes 'mirror image' outlines as well as a page of motifs that can be incorporated into the larger stitchery or used on their own in various way. All this makes it a user friendly pattern and very versatile.
So Miss Mousey and Lily: A Knitting Kind of Day, here enjoying a Knit and Natter session...love them!

And talking of knitting, Master Eduardo has been sitting patiently beside me as I continue on with that other project...
It's well over half way so 'right on target'!
