A recent finish...

2016 brought a burning desire to work on some UFOs. The first finish was a throw that I started knitting in 2014. It was my old favourite chevron pattern but I was experimenting with deeper bands of the main colour. I was using up scraps of pink and some blues left over from previous projects.
And instead of my usual dark main colours, I tried using white.

I didn't get much done in 2014 but worked on the throw a few times in 2015...but really lacked enthusiasm to actually finish it. So at the beginning of this month I pulled it out with a new resolve. I wanted a supply of knitted rugs which I could give away at a moment's notice to someone doing it tough. I haven't had that little stash of finished throws for a couple of years now.
And last week I finished this one!

Eduardo of course had to try the new rug out...

But then it was all folded up and he had to 'slum it' on the doona in the spare bedroom! (He considers this room to be his but graciously lets visitors use the/his bed)

So then I moved on to another UFO; my Knitted Minestrone project which I wrote about in the FNWF post. There's still a way to go on that throw but The enthusiasm to finish is still there...and that's great!
And today my new iPad case arrived...
I ended up choosing the retro turntable...a bit of nostalgia from my teenage years when I lusted after a record player. It never happened! So when I started work, I bought a little mono blue and white record player which I loved. Even though I upgraded to a stereo system in the early 1970s, I kept my little one. My girls loved the novelty of it and played records on it in the 1980s until it 'died' in the 1990s.

  4. I am hoping that "burning desire to work on some UFOs" continues - for and me!
Reminds me of how I lusted after a 72 set of Derwent Coloured pencils when I was in primary school....

  5. Looks like ice cream, Maria! Gorgeous๐Ÿ˜€
I am also thinking that a few finished UFOs in 2016 is a plan- apart from a couple of items I have promised the girls! Maybe I could do "finish 2, start 1" ??๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

  7. Hey, that iPad cover looks amazing - great choice. Good on you for finishing one of your UFOs. Funnily enough, I've been doing the same and have picked up my cowl neck poncho I started ages and ages ago. Most of my UFOs are pretty big so I probably won't be as quick as you - but will plug along steadily. Xox

  8. such delicate shades in your throw a real beauty. I am about to buy a record player as my stereo system packed up the other day and being over 20 years old they tell me the parts are no longer available they now make retro ones which will be fine as they are cheap and I do not have many records.

  11. It's not finished until the cat approves, right? I guessed wrong on the ipad case. I thought you would go for one of the colorful flower ones.
