Now some of those planes. These range from Cessnas used for reconnaissance, to fighters and bombers.
I learned a new word since comng to the US..docent...well a new meaning for me as I was aware of the word before. Here it refers to people who keep a watch over exhibitions and also act as guides. Well the docent volunteers were very informative here and really made our visit interesting/fascinating.
One vehicle was neither a military or a Duesenberger car...I loved it! Remember the baker who drove around suburban streets selling bread? You have to be a certain age to remember...
Apparently that bakers' van was loaded with loaves of bread in the middle of the vehicle and at the back of the vehicle were drawers filled with pastries, cakes etc. these vans stopped operating by 1969.
Lastly some photos taken by DH's cousin...Adrienne has taken photography courses and it shows!!
DH photography the sign beside on of the cars....
DH standing in front of the large mural showing the areas and battles in the Pacific during WW2....
Another great outing on our holiday!
I do remember bread being sold from a horse & cart in the street - I don't think there were any pastries back then...but I do rememebr pulling the white bread out of the middle of the loaf...so fresh...but it was probably a choice of square loaf - white bread or square loaf - white bread...times have changed.
ReplyDeleteI remember the baker with the horse and cart too....he was my uncle and sometimes he'd let me hold the big basket. Susan....I remember pulling the soft warm bread from the middle too, and getting a good smack for my trouble..didn't stop me :) Love all those shiny cars,Maria, you two are certainly getting to see lots of interesting places.
