On Saturday March 16, DH and I drove to Ipswich (Brassall) to show our support for a friend who was participating in the World's Greatest Shave. We came home a different way, driving through the countryside right away from the motorway.
We went through some bushland areas and our journey also took us near the Brisbane River. In particular we drove through the Ipswich suburb of Chuwar where there is a very popular recreation area on the river known as College's Crossing. Except there is no recreation going on there at the moment...look what the flood waters did earlier this year. (and of course this area was trashed in the 2011 floods too!)
When I saw the temporary fencing in the distance, I asked DH if he could pull off the road so we could have a closer look. The fencing made me think that the facilities had been damaged by the floods in February this year. And I was right unfortunately!
We drove through Mt Crosby and then headed for home.

ReplyDeleteIt is frightening to see the damage that nature can cause. I hope seeing all this did not spoil your day out...great photos Maria Jx
ReplyDeleteWow, that playground is a write-off!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely long drive - reminds me of Youngs Crossing and along the North Pine River - the fallen trees and rubbish from the flood will always be a reminder how high it rose.
ReplyDeleteA lovely drive, but so much damage from the floods.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see all the damage the flood has done.
