FNSI...

Last night I was actually organised, and ready for Friday Night Sew In, for a change! lol But what I sewed was actually a project that had been set for last month's FNSI. Normally people just sew/knit etc whatever they choose but last month we were asked if we would like to make a pillow case for this campaign Conkerrcancer which is a group that supports young cancer sufferers. I didn't get any sewing done for this project last month as I was trying to finish the apron for that swap I was involved with, as well as finish another knitted throw for K4BN. Then I thought that I would sew some pillow cases in the week after...but it didn't happen :-)

Last month I had got around to finding some fabrics to use for the pillowslips but I wasn't really happy with what I had put aside to use. I felt that it wasn't really nice and cheery fabric. So last Thursday night I looked through some of my stash again and found some fabric I'd forgotten I had :-/ It had been bought as a remnant years ago and had colourful parrots on it. Then without too much effort on my part I just put my hands on the other 2 fabrics needed; as though they came out of nowhere.

I measured and cut the fabrics while dinner cooked last night, then sewed the pillowcase after dinner. I used the 'tube' method and found it to be easy, fun and with a finished product that looked pretty good to me. The actual sewing took less time than the cutting out and the sewing up! amazing. I am going to check with the Sunshine Linus group here in Qld, whether they can use pillowcases locally. Otherwise it will be posted to the US (with a few more perhaps?) to join the ones made last month in FNSI. (I think the total made last month by participants in FNSI was 174)

I finished up the evening with my knitting. This project is just about finished, ready for posting.

  1. That fabric is BEAUTIFUL! I'm sure whom ever receives it will love it. I forgot last night was FNSI since I don't follow the sister's blog... simply missed it entirely - perhaps I should add her so I won't miss it next month.
