Eduardo has always been a fussy eater, despite howling piteously for food from 4pm onwards each day. He prefers food that is moist, so none of those 'loaf style' tins of cat food for him...and none with fish in either! He will eat the occasional meal of chopped up fresh meat or chicken...but not too often though. Lately he has been leaving 2/3 of his meal. If it has dried out, I put the bowl outside and the birds clean it up...hopefully with no ill effects for them!
I realised that it was not cost effective buying the tins of cat food as most went to feed the birds...and the odd possum. So I 'gave in' and bought the little single serve containers of food...
So far he's eating every scrap of the Dine single serves. Long may it continue! Note his 'placemat'? And his dinner bowl?? Lol
I thought DH wouldn't be too impressed with my buying those as they work out much more expensive than the larger tin. But he pointed out that Eduardo had been eating the same varieties for 14 of his years so it was reasonable that he should be sick of them! Lol.
Definitely a 'First World Problem'!
Aren't all cats fussy - we do use those single serve things - some are certainly more popular than others for our fussy feline.
ReplyDeletegood that you have found one he likes, a cat not liking fish that must be a first. Have had Alfie Helen`s cat for 4 days and he demands food 24/7. He has gone back home now so peace reigns.A fussy food eater and will only eat the small tins or pouches plus a few biscuits and treats, also likes ham, chicken etc a rather spoilt cat
ReplyDeleteMy cat also leaves her food to go hard and then won't eat it. I've started just putting half a portion into her bowl and that seems to work better for everyone....except the birds who used to get her leftovers!
ReplyDeleteCats do have a way of getting what they want don't they? Our girl Madison has recently decided that her evening meal will be one of those single serve thingies like you bought but she only likes the ones with gravy. So her daily meals consist of cat biscuits for breakfast, more biscuits for afternoon tea and the minute my grandson is put in the bath (I amuse him while my daughter gets it ready) .. both the cat and dog are at me for their dinner. Oh such fun ---- but I wouldn't be without furkids for anything would you? xox
ReplyDeleteWell. I don't know cats well. It has been about 35 years since we had a cat. Ours is a home to 3 LARGE dogs. But no matter what kind of pet friend one has, we always want to make them happy. The change in food is a good trade for all the joy they give us! Yay for your husband too. I love a man that can show they love an animal.

Cats get very fussy as they get older... Your single serve is cheaper in the long run if Eudardo didn't eat the other food but eats all the smaller severs...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how the smallest member of the household manages to be in charge? Lucky you found something he likes.
ReplyDeleteOur household is run not by the cat but by a 16 1/2 year old hard of hearing chow dog. Everything revolves around his schedule, his mad and random barking, etc. Dogs really tie you down, and like you, this one was inherited from the children.
PS. Eduardo, you are very handsome, looking like a shorter haired version of our girl, Rosie.
I buy those single serves for my 3 as well, it wasn't cost effective to open a big tin, have them eat one meal, then refuse to eat it again. I think they like freshly opened. My littlest one only likes the gravy from the sachets, anything she leaves I mix with the chook's yoghurt and they eat it. Gone are the days when cats and dogs just got the scrapings off the dinner plates.....I suppose back then they went and killed off the wild life to get a feed:)
