We took a little trip to Granville Island the other afternoon. This area was once an industrial manufacturing area but in recent years has been redeveloped as a tourist, shopping, food and entertainment hub.
The area is still a ferry terminal
I had been told about a Quilt Shop there, so that was my first destination..
Once upon a time...
Entertainers...
..and weren't the little ferries cute!
The seagulls look well fed!
There is still some industry adjacent to Granville Is...but doesn't it look attractive?
The store had a variety of fabrics mainly those to go with the various kits that they had in stock...I just bought a few fat quarters as souvenirs of the visit.
While I was in the quilt shop, DH had been wandering around checking out the shops. When we all met up again, we went into one of the food market buildings...
Coffee first...
Then we walked around all the produce stalls...there were so many!!
We ended up buying a whole heap of fresh food, meat, fish, vegetables and fruit; enough for a couple of home cooked meals. Wonderful quality too.
DH noticed this car parked bear one of the buildings...
A Nissan Leaf...have never noticed these in Australia...
There were a number of flower sellers in the markets and some of the flowers in particular caught our attention...
Apparently they do sell the Leaf in Australia, but I've never seen one, either. Will have to look into it, as we're planning to get a new car in the next couple of years.
