Friday Night Sew In...

It was a night of cutting for me! I had decided that one big cutting session should get me ready to start the Instagram Hexie Down Under Swap. There are 18 in my group ( that includes me) and we have to make 2 hexie flowers per person...so that's 34 x 7 that I needed to cut out. The hexagons are 1 inch.
We were each sent a list of people's preferences, so it was just a matter of sorting through my 'stash' to find suitable fabrics. In recent months I have been sorting my fabrics and putting them in bundles based on colours and themes...really glad I did that!!
I still have a few more to cut including all the centres...most want white, but there are some requests for a cream centre and one yellow.
I used quite a bit of my leftover 'Amelia' jelly roll and charm squares...these precuts have made a lot of projects!
I will be using the glueing method and also the purchased hexagon papers. So I'm now just about ready to start...

  5. what a fun swap to be taking part in. I do enjoy hexies, cut loads and loads out yesterday but I do not glue, maybe I should have a go but is it easy to remove the papers when glue is used? I use card which can be reused lots of times.Cut them out myself on a sizzix machine, hundreds of them and then decided to sell the machine as I did not really need it as I did not use it for fabric

  6. Well done - great organisation! You'll be so pleased of the time spent cutting when you start sewing them, no more thinking needed!

  7. I did a bit of cutting too - sometimes I think I should go back to cross stitch and remove the "preparation" stage. Its going to be fun collecting all your hexies.
