So is it time to get out my battered, heavy based pot? It's French and I bought it in the 1970s at a David Jones' sale. This pot gets quite a workout in the cooler months...casseroles and soups are the go then.
Is it time for lunches that consist of a big cup filled with homemade soup served with some crusty bread?
My soup cup is the purple one on the left...of course!
I decided yesterday that it's time to change the mini quilt on the stand, to the Winter quilt made for me by Anthea of Hibiscus Stitches...( featuring Michelle's lovely snowman design)
And in the last week, I've started snuggling under a very special gift I got last Christmas...
Yes, a quilt that was made especially for me by DsD1, who started quilting just over 4 years when she went to live and work in Wandoan. When I was unwrapping my gift last Christmas, at first I thought that DsD1 had bought me some fabric, but then as I continued to unwrap the parcel, I saw that it was a quilt...it was the most wonderful surprise!!!
isn't it great to bring out the old faithful cookware for the winter Maria?!
ReplyDeleteall those soups & meals cooked slowly... yum, they sound so good!
I love homemade soups. They are so easy and always so good. A beautiful quilt -- specially made for you with lots of love sewn in, I'm sure!

ReplyDeleteHow special is that quilt....agree the weather is lovely at the moment - even had to dig out a cardy for my 7.30 am standing at the bus stop.
ReplyDeleteHello Maria,
ReplyDeleteWith the changing of seasons old favourites come out. Lucky you to get such a lovely present for Christmas. Enjoy the soup, I made vegie and lentil on the weekend, lunch is set for each day this week.
Happy days.
Bev.
Lovely quilt looks like the perfect pot x
ReplyDeleteHi Maria, yes, definitely soup and casserole weather down this way too. You've a lovely big pot. It's good to have a nice supply of frozen soups and casseroles too isn't it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us your beautiful quilt gift from Meg. It's gorgeous and I love the label too... a real treasure. You look snug as.... :D)
Hi Maria. At last the weather is cooling down - I saw stewing steak and lambs kidneys in the shop the other day and made a huge pot of steak and kidney. Delicious.
