The mask must also be cleaned on a regular basis...
Now interestingly, my cardiologist has organized for me to spend an evening at the Sleep Centre at Greenslopes Hospital. Yesterday the paperwork arrived from the company who runs this Centre...

My hubbie also looks like an alien with his CPAP machine but he wouldn't go anywhere without it, I hope it helps your hubbie too. Gav goes to the Snore mob.... I guess it is an odd name but it says it all really......lol
ReplyDeleteMy eldest daughter uses a CPAP machine and reckons she's now getting the best sleep she's had in years. Good luck with yours. xox
ReplyDeleteGreg has a CPAP machine also Maria - the best thing that has happened for me and for him. He gets a better nights sleep and I get a full nights sleep. He snored so bad that our now 30 year old son woke up screaming one night when he was 4 years old because there was a monster in the house!!. I could even here him over the TV 3 rooms away and down the hall. The worst was when he would stop breathing through the night - I would wake up immediately and count the seconds off - often shaking him to get him breathing again. he has had it for 2 years now - so much better!! No idea the company name his is through but I really couldn't care less - I get a much better nights sleep now!!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria I hope it all goes well for you xx
ReplyDeleteHi Maria... two of my quilting pals.. Chris and Kitty both use CPAP machines and swear by them. Before she got her machine Chris could wake the Devil with the decibels of her snoring. I know... I share a room with her when we go away. Since CPAP she's a quiet as a mouse and more importantly she can breathe through the night and isn't so tired through the day. Hope you get one soon.....xxx
ReplyDeleteI guess someone had a sense of humor when they named it Snore Austrailia! It made me laugh anyway. I also call my partner Darth and I'm having trouble getting used to the new noise. I hope it will give you both a good night's sleep.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it on both counts! Yes, cleaning out the CPAP & regular services are a must - getting used to it (from both the user & the partner) - can take some time depending of the person. Not everyone copes with CPAP & there are numerous types of machines out there.
ReplyDeleteHope the CPAP machine works for your hubby Maria. My could not get used to it and sadly doesn't use it...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharmayne that it is also hard for the partner but I guess if you have one too it would be okay....good luck.
Good luck with the mask Maria. My DH is about to get one soon (or should). His snoring is off the richter scale at times. He recorded me snoring one night just to prove that I do too. LOL - it was just a very ladylike snuffle. No comparison!! cheers Wendy
ReplyDeleteI think you need a new referral - may as well both go to the same place. . . .
ReplyDeleteHope you both get some well earned sleep . . .
Hello Maria - thanks for the follow at Still Waters and for your recent comments. The back is progressing slowly - not as many 'oohs' when I moved today.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in how you are coping with the noise these machines make. You said it is sort of a whooshing sound but is it really noticeable. Enough to make you aware of it? I'm wondering if The Golfer ever gets one will it affect my nights sleep - (yes I know his snoring does - but I can't stand noise in the bedroom and find it hard to get to sleep in those instances.
Looking forward to more of this saga
Take care
Cathy
