Our cruise on the Thames to Greenwich...

As mentioned in a previous post, DH and I left the Big Bus tour at the Tower of London and made our way to the wharf to continue the tour via a cruise on the Thames.
So many warehouses in old docks' areas have been converted into luxury apartments...

The man doing the commentary claimed that the actress Helen Mirren has an apartment in the. Oliver's Wharf building.
Part of the large water police complex on the riverbank...

The small white building is a pub...reportedly one of the oldest in London...

More old warehouses remodeled into apartments...

Farther upstream the luxury apartment buildings were purpose built including this conglomeration...designed apparently so that every apartment has a view of the river..

Aah we have caught sight of the tea clipper Cutty Sark...that meant we were near Greenwich!

The beautiful buildings at Greenwich...
The Cutty Sark up closer...

We walked around to the building on the left of the photo where there is a cafe/ brewery

The cafe with those brewing tanks in the background...
We had a coffee each and because it was quite cold DH ordered a bowl of chips...mmmm they were delicious! Lol

After our snack we walked through the museum there...loved the ornate iron spiral staircase. It was closed off as I imagine it would be an occupational health and safety nightmare!

Then it was back on the next boat back to the city...

We are on our way to Westminister Dock...and look! There's that Shard building again!
And here I am, shivering away while waiting for the next Big Bus. I. Wished then that I had worn my 'big coat'...
After what seemed like ages the next bus arrived and we rode the rest of the route back to Green Park. It had been another wonderful day of sightseeing.

  1. I loved the trip along the river, last time I was in London was mid January and all the river cruises were closed for winter. And Maria, please put some some socks on as well as your big coat....you'll feel much warmer :)

  2. Maria,
I am loving your daily blog. Where do you find the time and energy? You are going to have to show me what to do when you get back. This is a brilliant record of your trip and so delightful to feel we are coming along wit you for the ride!!
    Thanks so very much.

  3. It's a pity it was cold. We had some lovely warm weekends recently. We also had a very wet winter, so it's good you missed that. I know Greenwich well and have been on those boat trips a few times. I like the "old" places that the guides point out and it seems that Charles Dickens drank in most of the pubs along the river!

  4. Fabulous Maria - thanks for taking the time to post like you do.
I loved that little white pub in amongst all those other buildings. Some of the apartments are nice but that conglomerate - oh boy!
Great to see all those landmarks.
Oh you look cold. Glad you put yourself in some pics too :D)
