Last night I joined in with others over at Cheryll's blog, for Friday Night with Friends. And last night, I knitted...
Why not use the link to see what other people who signed up for FNwF did...you will be amazed!
As I wrote in the subject line, it's that time of year when I am making a throw to donate to our Parish Art Show. I am classed as an exhibitor but I do not take my 75% if the item sells, instead all proceeds from the sale go to the parish funds.
This is this year's project... a throw knitted in mohair yarns, using waffle stitch, which is yet again a favourite slipstitch pattern, and very easy.
The background is grey...somehow I seem to have a large collection of Patons grey mohair...I don't particularly like grey, so I decided that this year, I was going to use it up! The main colour in waffle stitch uses a lot of yarn...perfect! So that's how this throw 'evolved'. I had planned to name this throw, 'Fifty shades WITH grey' but as each colour block is several centimetres deep, 50 different colours may make it too long. A way around that would be to use some of my variegated mohair which can have many different colours and shades in the one yarn.
I found some photos of previous entries too!
Last year's throw while being knitted; I've forgotten what I named this one... |
I called this one 'Carmen's Rug' because I had asked my friend to buy this one when I put it in the show...which her husband did! lol |
And this one was the 2011 entry which I called 'Over Hill and Dale'. When I handed it in, Marg, the lady who was taking the craft entries that day, fell in love with it. After an unsettled night waking up thinking 'Will I or won't I buy that rug'? she rang the organiser in the morning and bought it!

ReplyDeleteMaria, this is just beautiful!! Any idea what sort of price tag this would have on it? Perhaps out of my reach....but I could think seriously about buying this....Nanette
