Rain and knitting...

It's been raining a lot here lately...the garden is overgrown with weeds, the sweet potato vines have 'escaped' the vegie patch and are growing up and over fences. And the lawn is sprouting these...

We won't be eating them though! lol  These toadstools eventually grew to the size of about 8 inches across.

Yesterday I went to Scarborough for the monthly K4BN meet- up there. The following are just a few of the photos that I took of all lovely items that had been made by members and their friends.

Love those colours!

It won't fit you Rene!

There were quite a few of these lovely scarves all in different variegated yarns...

And here is the back of Angela's lovely colourful jumper

And this is what the front looks like...plus a matching beanie!

And let me introduce you to two lovely ladies who make the most beautiful items for the needy, Robyn and Angela.  Robyn lives on an acreage north of Brisbane and she must knit in her sleep I think, as she makes so many items each month. And she also sews children's clothes for the group too!

Angela, closer to the camera, made those beautiful striped jumpers in previous photos. Angela is in her late 70s and was a dancer. She lived for her dancing and found it very hard to 'keep still'! lol She suffered a stroke in 2001 which left her unable to dance...she still experiences pain in one foot if she walks barefoot on a hard surface. So as she said...'I couldn't dance like I used to, but I could knit!' Angela is fun to be around, her positive outlook on life and her wicked sense of humour is just delightful! These two ladies have become best mates after meeting a while ago  at the Scarborough Knit and Natter.

  1. There are so many toadstools around. I find it hard to resist running around with the camera snapping away. So lovely to have such amazing crafty friends.

  2. Angela's creation is wonderful. I love the idea of knitting and nattering, although I'm a crocheter rather than a knitter. I'm enjoying looking through your posts Maria, and look forward to more. J.

  4. Such a wealth of beautiful knitting and those stripey jumpers are gorgeous. We've had a lot of white fungi pop up in our lawn too, mostly puff balls which i pull up if they get too big.
