Whenever I see the Nativity Scene at our local larger shopping centre I always notice that the 'favourite characters' from my childhood, The Three Wise Men, are already at the stable.
No wise men yet... |
But of course history suggests that they took a while to get there... so in the Advent season the TWM figurines stay on a table in the vestry (side room of the church building). Then after Christmas the figures take up residence on the organ...they still have a way to travel! :-)
Here they are with their gifts... on the top of the organ...
But when Epiphany arrives, the figurines are placed in the stable... (and I didn't get a photo of that) . My friends who are Orthodox would have had their gift giving and feasting today celebrating the arrival of the TWM!
Now to continue this randomness, I took a few photos in the garden this last week...
My frangipani is covered with buds. Originally I bought the plant from a market when it was just a 'stick'. It must like the position that it's in and has grown such a lot in the last 12 months.
This bromeliad always flowers after all the others, and the flower spike lasts for weeks... |
Surprisingly, there are still flowers on the jacaranda which is most unusual. I stood under the clothesline to get the photo with my phone so that's what the lines are in the photo. |
And lastly some photos of the newest grandchild of my (little) brother; yep a little bit of sibling rivalry there! lol)
He is a big boy, nearly 10lbs! |
My niece had a water home birth and everything went well. DH and I were going to visit them last Thursday but Maximo was having problems with feeding meaning my niece was very tired. So we're going to visit on Tuesday, taking lunch and some gifts...I was worried that some of the little outfits that I bought would be too small but it looks like OOO and OO are fine! And of course DD1 and I looked through the toys etc at a shopping centre near her place...I ended up buying this after I had had a bit of a play with it in the shop. heh hehe.
This toy hangs up and you pull a cord and it plays 'Talk to the Animals'. Love it! lol |
Today I reached another milestone...I successfully bought and downloaded a book from iTunes on to my iPad which DH gave me for Christmas. I'm really chuffed that I was able to work it out. Plans for the future include buying some craft mags the same way, but not too many!
