I wondered whether I could make some treats using wholemeal flour and some honey (and eggs and milk etc) so checked with the doctor on my visit...no said the doctor! How about fruit, raw vegies, nuts and cheese when the 'hungries' strike? that was ok by the medico.
An afternoon snack plate to share with DH |
But some things have happened which are a big surprise to me. I don't feel as hungry as I used to. I actually have more energy and I can refuse dessert/cakes/pastries when we are out, without feeling deprived. I can have a cup of coffee or tea without feeling the 'need' to eat something sweet to accompany it.
Woot woot! This is quite a breakthrough after years of indulging!
However the other day I discovered another outcome...I rarely stand on scales...hate them in fact. But I stood on the bathroom scales and saw that I'd lost some weight since being weighed at the cardiologist's office. I'd lost just over 3 kgs. Now even though I hadn't had weight loss as a goal, at first I said to myself...hmmm 3 kgs in 2 months...pretty ordinary. Then I thought some more...it's better to lose weight slowly. Then I went to the pantry and got out some cans of food until I had just over 3 kgs (3kg20grams)...it was quite heavy and I've lost it!
This is a representation of the weight that I no longer carry. |
Well done Maria, I gave up smoking after 30 years a few years ago and ended up putting on 20kg. I may need to follow you and slowly give up the sweet stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell done Maria! It's surprising how much sugar is addictive.
ReplyDeleteOnce again - well done Maria. very impressive in such a short time really.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss. I think in tubs of margarine when visualising how much weight I've lost. Your tins of food look very healthy. xoxox
ReplyDeleteWell done, and did you see Foreign Correspondent tonight. I don't think i'll ever eat sugar or fats again, at least not together. Globesity they called it.
ReplyDeleteGood going on the dietary helps..less sugar is good...sweet things get so they taste too sweet. Yeah for you.
ReplyDeleteGood on you Maria - that really is such a lot of weight to lose. I've been back in sugar's grip just lately and know I've got to stop. Reading your post has helped :D)
