Today I put the fringing on the throw that I'm donating to the parish art show. I also sewed my label on one of the corners and wrote the description and price on the cardboard label tag that had to be attached to it. This time I remembered to add the 'washing instructions' on the back of the label :-) Then one more task...fill out the inventory sheet with all the details.
I've just read Dorothy's comment so will add some more details. If items are sold during the 3 days of the show, the exhibitors receive 75% of the price and the parish takes 25%. Because I'm a parishioner who sometimes feels she isn't doing as much as others (such as the ladies who run Mainly Music and other initiatives) I donate 100% of the sale to the parish. So far my throws have sold each year; hopefully that will be the case this year also. The funds raised go to 2 community groups and an overseas orphanage for girls which we help every year.
Then I bundled everything into a big Myer shopping bag and headed off to hand the throw in. I got a lovely surprise there when I was given a free ticket (worth $20) to the opening night! DH was impressed as he said that with the money we save on entry, we can buy more raffle tickets which is always a good money spinner at these affairs. (DH is incredibly lucky where raffles are concerned but because we are fortunate to have all we need, we always give prizes away) I didn't get a free ticket as an exhibitor last year and wonder whether it was an oversight. This year, the organisers want lots of people there on opening night as the media will be there to cover the premier officiating. So maybe free tickets may bring more people along...?

While I waited for the photos to upload for this post I read an email from the organiser of K4BN. The need for warm items and toiletries is so overwhelming. Now that I have 'done my bit' for the Parish at this particular point in time, I need to get back to my 'core business' these days and get some more items made for these organisations which depend on K4BN to help supply items to the needy.
That's a beautiful throw - love the colours. Is it going to be the raffle prize?
ReplyDeleteLove the throw you have finished. I am sure it will be much loved.

ReplyDeleteYour throw is beautiful, it will sell i know. Can you whisper the price for me? I'm guessing that it's a cold Winter up there this year, i know it is colder here. Keep knitting and knit faster but remember to take breaks and stretch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outback colours, Maria. Someone is going to love this throw. Maa
ReplyDeleteA good sized throw too Maria. I like the black fringing, it really finishes it off beautifully.
